The founder of Confident Communicators, Libby Hammond, comes from a background in training, management, staff development and public speaking. As well as the founder and CEO of a successful speaker's agency, Libby is the author of Is There a Speaker in the Room? And Telling the World in 90 Minutes. Prior to founding Confident Communicators, Libby facilitated countless workshops on public speaking and presentation skills for all levels of business and government.
Whether she was working in the public or private sector, with CEO's, senior management, or front desk staff, Libby consistently found that only three to seven percent of individuals who felt competent would say they also felt confident. This overwhelming lack of confidence was evidenced by employee disengagement, poor interpersonal relationships and staff attrition.
Libby observed that from a very young age, the cultures we live in reinforce self-acceptance based on our competencies (i.,e., our performance). However, research shows that the younger a child is introduced to understanding authentic confidence, based on the positives of who they are, the more certain they are to achieve.
Libby's response was to create The Confident Communicators Competition material and The Confident Communicators Program for schools. As she worked with pupils in her local primary school in Airth, Scotland, she found that the younger the pupils engaged in the material the more amazing the results. Statistics could be influenced to change. The program now runs from Nursery through to Sixth year (equivalent to Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 in Canada) and incorporates the Talking Triangle™
"Confident Communicators sums up everything beautifully. It gives the teachers a real focus for teaching these skills. We as a school are thrilled with all of the children's development. The children's confidence has really soared"
